I make things. Right now, I’m also a graduate student at the University of Massachusetts in Lowell, where I make robots. When I’m not at work, I make other projects, usually involving some blend of electronics, mechanics, and perhaps a little chemistry. Because I’m a graduate student, I don’t have a lot of spare income, so I try to make things cheap and base designs on parts that are easy to salvage.
You can contact me at orphrey (at) gmail (dot) com.
Gizmosmith is where I document the things that I’ve made. I try to include enough detail that someone else could duplicate any of these projects themselves, or use the ideas from them in their own work.
Technologically speaking, Gizmosmith is an install of WordPress on a server hosted by a friend of mine in a datacenter in Canada. The uptime is excellent, and the price is certainly right.
